DUNK ISLAND DAY TOUR
It was known to the first inhabitants as 'Coonanglebah' - the Island of Peace and Plenty. Today, Dunk continues to be Australia's most beautiful rainforest island. With an enormous variety of activities to choose from, it's hard deciding what to do next.
You could start the day with a rainforest walk and take in the spectacular views from the summit of Mt Kootaloo. After lunch, glide round the island on a guided jet ski tour, stopping off for a snorkel over the bommies at Naturalist Beach or perhaps some water skiing followed by a game of tennis. Or should that be parasailing followed by squash?
This tour has a 1 hour scenic flight over the reef in the morning, a full seven hours on Dunk, and a 45 min scenic flight over the tropical hinterland on the return flight to Cairns.
YOUR ITINERARY
0700 Free pickup from your accommodation.
0745 Depart Cairns Airport for a low-level scenic flight to your Island paradise. On the way to the reef, we will pass Cairns City, Trinity Inlet, Yarrabah Peninsula, Gren Island and Fitzroy Island. Here we pick up the chain of reefs forming The Great Barrier Reef and follow them all the way to Dunk Island. We will see literally hundreds of reefs on our 160 Km course.There will be many opportunities to take photos of the reef from our high wing aircraft, recently fitted with all new windows.
0845 Arrive at Dunk Island for a day of relaxation or adventure, it's up to you. Set your own timetable to explore this paradise. Recommended for the adventurous is the rainforest walk to Mt. Kootooloo, about a 2 hour, fairly strenuous walk, but worth the effort. For a more relaxed time, discover the beaches, pamper yourself with a facial or massage at the Spa, or just relax poolside and build an appetite. Lunch is included in the price today, either at EJ's (poolside) or BB's (beach).
Also included in your day-pass to Dunk Island, is access to National Park walking tracks, the Plantation Bar and Beachfront Butterfly Pool. Non-motorised water sports including catamarans and paddle boats are also available for your use free of charge. Other activities such as horse riding, jet ski's etc. are available at own expense.
1545 Depart Dunk Island for a 45 min Scenic flight over Mission Beach, the Mulgrave Valley, Mt. Bartle Frere (Queensland's highest Mountain) and Cairns city. Courtesy drop-off at your accommodation is also provided.
